A Vibrant , Colorful City

I am a happy resident in San Francisco because it is close to everything, e.g. the ocean, beaches, forests and mountains, etc. It’s full of vibrant cultural life that I enjoy the most: the symphony, opera, theaters, many museums and art galleries. The combinations of caressing, warm  sunshine, clear blue sky with occasionally fast moving clouds, transparent layers of fog, and dramatic hilly landscape make San Francisco look even more theatrical and attractive.

Even though San Francisco is one of the top most expensive cities in the U.S., people like to live here for many reasons. One of them is to enjoy the mild weather throughout the year. There are micro-climates in the city, and one can often experience different seasons in one day by being in different areas in the city. So, many locals dress in layers. One doesn’t have to put away winter clothes during the summer because it often gets cold, as described vividly by Mark Twain, “The coldest winter I ever saw was the summer I spent in San Francisco.”

Another reason people like to live in San Francisco is that it is a place where one can interact easily with people from multi-cultural backgrounds. Throughout the year, there are holiday celebrations or festivals held by people who are from different countries. Also, one can enjoy a wide variety of international cuisine offered by many restaurants.

In addition to its attractive natural environment and vibrant cultural atmosphere, San Francisco also buzzes with on-going international and national conventions in many fields, such as high tech or inventions, medical research, businesses, environment protection, architecture and design, etc.  which keeps bringing professionals into the region and turning them into happy semi-tourists.

Along with many other things offered by the city, the colorful characteristics of San Francisco continue to attract people from around the world.
